Amfora Mediterranean Restaurant

Our Story

A survivor of the ancient world, an amfora is a vase with two vertical handles used for the storage and transportation of oils, grapes, grains, fish, and wines. While a common ancient pottery shape, the amfora varies in size and design within certain cultures, ranging from a simplistic ceramic vessel to a highly decorated one. With ingredients like fresh caught seafood and an assortment of distinctive salts such as fleur de sel, a delicate, hand-harvested salt collected in shallow pools of seawater in France and Portugal, our food reflects the range of the very vase we are named after. Just as amphorae traveled around the ancient Mediterranean world, we at Amfora aim to provide a unique culinary journey as you experience coastal Mediterranean dishes with influences from Spain, French, Italian, Adriatic, and North African cuisines. Gzim Molabeciri, Co-Owner, Executive Hospitality Consultant

With unrivaled experience from the Adriatic Coast of Montenegro to the Gulf of Mexico, Gzim Molabeciri is the Co-Owner of Amfora Mediterranean Restaurant. His thriving hospitality career spans nearly 30 years encompassing the first half in Chicago, Illinois at the Hilton. When the rare opportunity aroused for Gzim to open the Hilton’s Embassy Suites, it required a 1300-mile move to Estero, Florida where he was appointed Food and Beverage Director. He later moved to the five-star, five diamond Ritz Carlton Naples Beach Resort where he held multiple Food & Beverage positions. His exacting talents were also tapped for the Company’s elite Task Force squad, where it’s very top team members travel across the globe, assigned to lend their expertise when opening new five-star properties or to enhance its renowned Gold Standard operating procedures at existing locales needing an extra boost. His passion for hospitality excellence is what motivates him daily to accomplish the best for his guests and himself. Amfora is a direct representation of the skills and values Gzim has to offer to the restaurant and the community.

Sabir (Sam) Fici, Co-Owner

With over 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Sam Fici was born in Dulcingo, Montenegro on the Adriatic coast. At the age of eight Sam moved to New York City where he lived until he graduated from High School. He spent most of his life between New York City and Europe. Sam then decided to enroll at the European College of Hospitality in Croatia. Sam worked in hotels and fine dining restaurants such as Double Tree by the Hiltons, Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse, Wolfgangs Steakhouse, Capital Grille Steakhouse just to name a few. For some, running a restaurant is a business, for Sam it is a calling of passion and a love for food, wine, and service.

Born and raised in Peru, and with more than a 25 years of experience, Enrique Galan encompasses his exceptionally innovative cuisine to and passion for cooking to AMFORA. Galan brings culinary wisdom from his career with Marriott International, which includes The Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott. With a philosophy that cuisine has no limits, Galan’s expertise and background offers diners authentic dishes infused with global flavors. Galan brings a unique insight on personal chef services, leadership, concept and development to AMFORA.
